Background

In November 2007, Janet Bell Gallery was born in the pretty town of Beaumaris, Anglesey . What started out initially as just my studio where I painted and sold some of my originals, prints and cards has since grown into the gallery I dreamed of owning one day. It wasn't planned like this but just developed naturally following customer response and demand. We quickly realised people liked what we do and slowly started stocking other bits and pieces that complimented my own art work. Starting with Poppy Treffry's fun tea cosies, we now have the work of over 25 different artists and designers.

I have been painting full time now for the past five years but previously worked for several boutiques, galleries and design-led stores including Habitat. I always loved buying and selling so knew that one day I would want to combine everything I enjoy doing. I had a strong concept that I would only ever sell the work of handmade artists and designers that I love; whether it's a card that I would send, a pair of earrings I would wear or a painting that would adorn my wall. It has all come together as a beautiful, quirky and fun mix of unique products that seem to appeal to all ages and guarantee a smile.

Location

After an epic relocation to an old Lloyds bank in the middle of town and a stones throw away from the sea, we doubled our space again this Summer. In our new gallery we have the original giant walk-in safe filled to the brim with jewellery and soft furnishings. As well as the main display area we also have a new small exhibition space for some of our favourite artists. So you can quite happily spend quite some time here.

Today it is very much a family business, my lovely Mum is in charge of the day-to-day running of the gallery. My Mother, Father and Brother-in-law do a fantastic job of my printing and framing. My wonderful hubby is the creative genius that designs and runs the site and all other forms of graphics and advertising, lifts, carries and pretty much my sidekick. and then there is me!! I still paint several days a week but balance that with keeping it all running smoothly and enjoying seeking out new products to keep our customers happy.
